The cast of Matt Reeves’ The Batman is getting even more impressive, with a couple of big names taking on classic Batman roles.
Jeffrey Wright is set to play Commissioner Gordon, the Caped Crusader’s police associate, while Jonah Hill will play an undisclosed classic Batman villain. Some sources believe that Hill will be taking on the role of The Riddler, but his character is yet to be confirmed by Warner Bros.
Wright is known for playing Bernard Lowe in Westworld, Beetee in The Hunger Games franchise, Narcisse in Boardwalk Empire and Felix Leiter in James Bond films Casino Royale, Quantum Of Solace and No Time To Die. He is also set to play The Watcher in Marvel Studios’ upcoming animated series What If…?.
Often cast in comedic roles, Hill is known for his work in cult comedies like Superbad, Knocked Up, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, This Is The End and 21 Jump Street. He also received Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor for his work in Moneyball and The Wolf Of Wall Street, and recently directed comedy-drama Mid90s.
Wright and Hill join a cast currently made up of just Robert Pattinson (Water For Elephants, High Life, Twilight) as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Matt Reeves is directing the film and writing the screenplay.
The Batman is set to hit cinemas on 25 June 2021. Get all the latest superhero news with every issue of SciFiNow.
