The Matrix 4 adds Jessica Henwick to the cast

Iron Fist’s Jessica Henwick has joined The Matrix 4 in a lead role

The Matrix 4 casting news just won’t quit, with the latest addition to the ensemble being Jessica Henwick. According to Deadline, she is in talks for a lead role in the film.

The news comes shortly after casting announcements for Neil Patrick Harris and Jada Pinkett Smith, who will be reprising her role as Matrix franchise regular Niobe.

English actress Henwick is best known for playing Colleen Wing in Marvel’s Iron Fist, as well as X-wing pilot Jessika Pava in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Nymeria Sand in Game Of Thrones. We’re sure her action skills will come into play somehow.

The new cast members join Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, who will be reprising their Matrix trilogy roles as Neo and Trinity respectively.

The Matrix 4 is being directed by franchise co-creator Lana Wachowski, from a script written by Wachowski, Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell. The film will be the first in the series that Wachowski hasn’t worked on with her sister Lily.

Lana Wachowski is also producing with her long-time collaborator Grant Hill, and filming is expected to begin at the start of 2020.

The Matrix 4 will hit cinemas in 2022. Get all the latest sci-fi news with every issue of SciFiNow.
