The CW is developing Superman & Lois, a new Supergirl spin-off series
The CW can’t get enough of the Man of Steel. Ahead of this winter’s ‘Crisis On Infinite Earths‘ Arrowverse crossover event, which will feature three different Supermen, TVLine reports that the network is in the process of developing a Supergirl spin-off series titled Superman & Lois.
The potential series is set to revolve around Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman/Clark Kent and Elizabeth Tulloch’s Lois Lane. Hoechlin made his first appearance as the character in the first two episodes of Supergirl Season 2. Tulloch debuted as Lois in last year’s Arrowverse ‘Elseworlds‘ crossover event.
The upcoming series is created and written by The Flash executive producer and former showrunner Todd Helbing, and will be executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Geoff Johns through their Berlanti Productions banner.
Superman & Lois will follow “the world’s most famous Super Hero and comic books’ most famous journalist as they deal with all the stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today’s society.”
Superman & Lois is the second recent Arrowverse spin-off series announcement, following that of an Arrow series titled Green Arrow & The Canaries. The aforementioned show has already started filming its backdoor pilot episode, which is expected to air during Arrow‘s final season.
