Snowpiercer Season 2 adds Sean Bean

Clearly missing the cold, Game Of Thrones star Sean Bean has joined the cast of Snowpiercer Season 2, according to Deadline.

It might seem as though network TNT is jumping the gun a little, considering Season 1 of the show hasn’t even premiere yet (it’s set to hit screens in the spring of 2020), but we take any Snowpiercer news as good news.

Details surrounding Bean’s character are being kept under wraps for now, but he joins series regulars Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Mickey Sumner, Annalise Basso, Sheila Vand, Sam Otto, Iddo Goldberg, Lena Hall, Alison Wright and Susan Park. The series was created by Graeme Manson (Orphan Black).

As well as starring as Ned Stark in the first season of GOT, Bean is also know for playing Boromir in The Lord Of The Rings, Ian Howe in National Treasure and Richard Sharpe in the Sharpe television films. His other acting credits include The Martian, TroyPercy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning ThiefMirror MirrorSilent Hill and Jupiter Ascending.

TNT’s Snowpiercer is based on the 2013 dystopian film directed by Bong Joon-ho, which in turn was based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand and Jean-Marc Rochette.

The 2013 starred Chris Evans, Song Kang-ho, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Octavia Spencer, Go Ah-sung, John Hurt, and Ed Harris, and takes place aboard the Snowpiercer train, operating on a globe-spanning track, carrying the last remnants of humanity after an attempt at climate engineering in order to stop global warming has unintentionally created a new Snowball Earth. It follows Evans’ lower-class tail section passenger Curtis Everett as he attempts to lead a revolution against the elite front of the train.
