Epix’s adaptation of Jerusalem’s Lot has found its star, according to Variety. The series, which is based on Stephen King’s short story of the same name, is set to feature Adrien Brody in the lead role.
Brody received widespread recognition for his work (which included an Academy Award for Best Actor) after appearing in The Pianist in 2002. He is also known for his roles in films like The Thin Red Line, King Kong, The Village, The Darjeeling Limited and The Grand Budapest Hotel.
Set in the 1850s, Jerusalem’s Lot follows Brody as Captain Charles Boone, a man who relocates his family of three children to his ancestral home in the small, sleepy town of Preacher’s Corners, Maine, after the death of his wife. However, Charles soon finds himself confronting the secrets of his family’s sordid history, and fighting to end the darkness that has plagued the Boones for generations.
Epix has issued a series order for Jerusalem’s Lot. Production is set to begin in May 2020, with the series hopefully premiering on TV screening sometime in autumn.
Ready Player One and Wayward Pines‘ Donald De Line is serving as the show’s executive producer, while Jason Filardi and Peter Filardi will be its EPs and showrunners.
Of Jerusalem’s Lot, Epix president Michael Wright said: “This series is an intense, absolutely terrifying reimagining of classic gothic horror. We can’t wait to work with the exceptional team of Donald De Line and Jason and Peter Filardi, along with our phenomenal lead actor, Adrien Brody… and of course, when it comes to horror, it doesn’t get any better or more masterful than Stephen King. We’re thrilled to be the home to this incredible show.”
King’s original short story was first published in 1978 as part of his collection titled Night Shift. The story was also printed in the illustrated edition of Salem’s Lot.
