Amazon’s Lord Of The Rings series sets a full cast

After months of slowly adding actors to its roster, Amazon’s upcoming Lord Of The Rings TV series has finally found a full cast.

Joining the show are Tom Budge, Owain Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith and Charlie Vickers, according to Variety.

In a statement, showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay said: “After undertaking an extensive global search, we are delighted finally to reveal the first group of brilliant performers who will take part in Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings series.

“These exceptionally talented women and men are more than just our actors: they are the newest members of an ever-expanding creative family that is now working tirelessly to bring Middle-earth to life anew for fans and audiences worldwide.”

The new cast join Robert Aramayo as lead Beldor and Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, with Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle and Maxim Baldry in unconfirmed roles.

The series is being written by Payne and McKay, alongside Gennifer Hutchison, Jason Cahill and Justin Doble. Game Of Thrones‘ Bryan Cogman is serving as a consulting producer and JA Bayona is directing several episodes.

Lindsey Weber, Bruce Richmond, Gene Kelly and Amazon’s former head of genre programming Sharon Tal Yguado are all serving as executive producers. Production is set to begin in February.

Set in Middle-earth, the Lord Of The Rings series will take place  during the Second Age, more than 3,000 years before the start of Tolkien’s The Fellowship Of The Ring, and will explore new storylines and characters.
