For those who have been eagerly awaiting TNT’s new Snowpiercer series with baited, frosted breath, this new teaser finally reveals an airdate. Check it out:
Here’s the synopsis for the series:
Set more than seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland Snowpiercer centres on the remnants of humanity, who inhabit a 1001 car, perpetually-moving train that circles the globe. Class warfare, social injustice and the politics of survival play out in this riveting television adaptation based on the acclaimed movie and graphic novel series of the same name.
TNT’s Snowpiercer is based on the 2013 dystopian film directed by Bong Joon-ho, which in turn was based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand and Jean-Marc Rochette.
The series stars Daveed Diggs, Jennifer Connelly, Mickey Sumner, Annalise Basso, Sasha Frolova, Alison Wright, Benjamin Haigh, Roberto Urbina, Katie McGuinness, Susan Park, Lena Hall, Sheila Vand, Sam Otto, Iddo Goldberg, and Jaylin Fletcher.
The 2013 film stars Chris Evans, Song Kang-ho, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Octavia Spencer, Go Ah-sung, John Hurt, and Ed Harris, and takes place aboard the Snowpiercer train, operating on a globe-spanning track, carrying the last remnants of humanity after an attempt at climate engineering in order to stop global warming has unintentionally created a new Snowball Earth. It follows Evans’ lower-class tail section passenger Curtis Everett as he attempts to lead a revolution against the elite front of the train.
Snowpiercer premieres on TNT on 31 May 2020 in the US. Get all the latest sci-fi news with every issue of SciFiNow.
