Priyanka Chopra is the latest star looking to join the cast of The Matrix 4, according to Variety. The actress is currently in final negotiations for the film.
Chopra is best known for her roles in Baywatch and Isn’t It Romantic, and playing lead Alex Parrish in ABC thriller series Quantico. She is also known for roles in a handful of Bollywood films, including The Hero: Love Story Of A Spy, Andaaz and Aitraaz.
As with most actors attached to The Matrix 4, there’s currently no news on who Chopra will be playing in the film.
She joins a cast made up of Neil Patrick Harris (A Series Of Unfortunate Events), Jessica Henwick (Marvel’s Iron Fist), Toby Onwumere (Sense8), Max Riemelt (Sense8), Jonathan Groff (Mindhunter), and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Black Mirror), who is rumoured to be playing a younger version of Morpheus.
Franchise stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will return as Neo and Trinity, and Jada Pinkett Smith is set to reprise her role of Niobe. Hugo Weaving, who played Agent Smith in the original film, will not be involved in the new film due to unfortunate scheduling conflicts.
The Matrix 4 is being directed by franchise co-creator Lana Wachowski, from a script written by Wachowski, Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell. The film will be the first in the series that Wachowski hasn’t worked on with her sister Lily. Lana Wachowski is also producing with her long-time collaborator Grant Hill, and filming is expected to begin at the start of 2020.
