According to Full Circle Cinema, Taron Egerton is currently in talks for a role in the upcoming Little Shop Of Horrors remake. Though his role in the film has not been confirmed, many outlets are speculating that he’d been taking on the lead as Seymour Krelborn.
Egerton is known for playing Elton John in last year’s musical hit Rocketman, Eddie the Eagle in Eddie The Eagle and Eggsy in the Kingsman films.
Little Shop Of Horrors follows a down-on-his-luck florist named Seymour who discovers his Venus flytrap can speak. Not only that, but it also has a thirst for blood. After the strange plant brings him fame and fortune, Seymour struggles with his conscious: if he doesn’t feed the plant, he’ll lose all the perks that come with it, including his love/colleague Audrey.
Frank Oz’s 1986 Little Shop Of Horrors was an adaptation of Alan Menken and Howard Ashman’s off-Broadway show, which in turn was a musical version of 1960 film The Little Shop Of Horrors, directed by Roger Corman.
Oz’s film starred Rick Moranis as Seymore Krelborn, Ellen Greene as Audrey, Vincent Gardenia as Mr Mushnik, the owner of the flower shop, Levi Stubbs as the voice of Audrey II, the plant, and Steve Martin as Orin Scrivello DDS, a dentist and Audrey’s abusive boyfriend.
The film also starred Bill Murray, John Candy, Jim Belushi, Christopher Guest, Miriam Margolyes and Stanley Jones.
