Netflix snaps up Henry Selick’s Wendell And Wild starring Key and Peele

It’s been far too long since we last heard anything about Wendell & Wild, the new film from the mighty Henry Selick (The Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline) which stars Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key.

Deadline reports that Wendell & Wild, a stop-motion animated “comedy about two scheming demon brothers who must face their arch-nemesis, the demon-dusting nun Sister Helly, and her two acolytes, the goth teens Kat and Raoul,” has been snapped up by Netflix, who will finance and distribute the film.

The film is written by Selick, Peele and Clay McLeod Chapman.

Peele, of course, is incredibly busy following the incredible success of Get Out (which won an Oscar for best original screenplay, in case you missed that). He’s involved with a reboot of The Twilight Zone, the upcoming Lovecraft Country, Tracy Morgan’s TV comedy The Last OG and Spike Lee’s next directorial effort Black Klansman. Plus, he’s working on another social thriller to direct…

Selick is also working on a TV adaptation of the excellent videogame Little Nightmares, which has Selick written all over it, quite frankly. Meanwhile, Key has a role in Shane Black’s The Predator coming up, and he’ll be voicing Kamari in Disney’s new take on The Lion King.

Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
