Arachnophobia remake coming from James Wan

James Wan looks to want a bit of that remake glory: he’s set to start work on a retelling of 1990 comedy horror Arachnophobia.

The film will be a product of Wan’s Atomic Monster production company and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin, with Wan acting as a producer. It’s still in the extremely early stages, with no writers, actors or even a director attached.

Wan is best known for his work on the Saw franchise and other horror films like Insidious, The Conjuring and their sequels. More recently, he also directed and wrote the story for Warner Bros’ Aquaman, which is currently in post-production.

The original Arachnophobia was directed by Frank Marshall, written by Don Jakoby and Wesley Strick (from a story by Jakoby and Al Williams), and starred Jeff Daniels, Harley Jane Kozak, John Goodman, Julian Sands, Brian McNamara, James Handy and Peter Jason.

Arachnophobia doesn’t yet have a release date. Get all the latest sci-fi news with every issue of SciFiNow.
