Stephen King’s Tommyknockers film in talks with Exorcist writer

The film adaptation of Stephen King’s science fiction novel The Tommyknockers has found a writer in the form of Jeremy Slater, who is currently in talks for the film.

Tommyknockers will be far from Slater’s first venture into genre: the writer created and penned Fox’s The Exorcist series, as well as the upcoming Umbrella Academy series based on Gerard Way’s comic book series of the same name. He also wrote the scripts for Death Note, Pet, the 2015 version of Fantastic Four and The Lazarus Effect.

Slater will join a team made up of James Wan and Michael Clear (The Nun, Annabelle: Creation) and Roy Lee (It), all of whom are set to produce. The film is being produced under Wan’s Atomic Monster banner with Konigsberg/Sanitsky and Lee and Jon Berg for Vertigo Entertainment.

You can read the Amazon synopsis for King’s novel here:

Everything is familiar. But everything has changed.

Coming back to the little community is like walking into a nightmare for Jim Gardener, poet, drunk, potential suicide.

It all looks the same, the house, the furniture, Jim’s friend Bobbi, her beagle (though ageing), even the woods out at the back.

But it was in the woods that Bobbi stumbled over the odd, part-buried object and felt a peculiar tingle as she brushed the soft earth away.

Everything is familiar. But everything is about to change.
